The Vessel Safety Check (VSC)

2007 Vessel Safety Check New Britain Power SquadronFor those unfamiliar with the Vessel Safety Check, it's one of the best ways to keep you and your boat safe. Yearly, trained volunteers from the New Britain Power Squadron hold free vessel safety check clinics where they inspect people's boats to make sure that they are ready for a season on the water.

Vessel Safety Checks minimize the loss of life, personal injury and reduce any possible environmental impact of an on the water accident. And while VSCs are voluntary, the inspection is based on federal and state regulations.

Once you pass, you'll receive a sticker that you can place on your boat so anyone who looks will know that your boat has recently been inspected and received a good bill of health. You might even qualify for an insurance discount.

VSC's are one of the Power Squadron's fastest-growing programs and are one of the major activities for many of our new members. Besides being a great way for members to get involved, it also is another way that we help serve the public.

Vessel Safety Checks are free and just make sense, so check our calendar to see when and where the New Britain Power Squadron will be holding our 2007 clinics.
